Riot talk the FPL Qualifiers!

With the Female Pro League just around the corner, both our North American and European Call of Duty teams have been practicing hard in order to qualify this weekend.

Now the pressures on! With both Riot teams successfully taking home the crown for NA and Europe last season, they will be fighting side by side to maintain that number one spot in Season Three.

The Female Pro League started as a North American league only, there was a lot of interest across the pond so in season two they introduced two separate leagues, one North American and the other European. Due to the lack of teams registered from Europe and several roster and team drop outs, they decided to go back to one league only in Season Three. This has added some pressures, especially to our European team. We spoke with @KimmieRiot, the Team Captain of Riot Girls EU, on her team and their thoughts going into Season Three:

“Despite the lack of hours we have put into the title compared to ones previously, I still have a lot of faith in this team. We feel that there is a lot of new and upcoming talent that could give us a challenge, however we are still looking to remain at the top of the European scene. We hope to cause some upsets with some of the NA teams but I think it’ll be the case of which team is the better team on the day.

The main thing my team have been working on is rotating on hardpoint as we’ve always struggled with this! Our team chemistry has always been amazing, myself Angel and Kazii have been a trio for over two years and the addition of Emily on and off over the past few titles. Our teamwork and knowledge of each other’s play-styles will help us throughout the FPL and it’s challenges. We’ve only really played 2/30 of the FPL CoD teams as we’ve struggled (admittedly) to dedicate as much time as we used to due to work commitments, but all we can say is bring it on!

If we’re unfortunate enough to fall short we will be routing for the Riot NA team in addition to our friends over at Barrage!”

On the other side of the bracket we have our Riot NA Girls team who will also be fighting for a space in Season Three. With 30+ teams signed up, we also catch up with Team Captain Ellen also known as @dreamcrazzy to hear about how her team have been getting on in practice and their confidence going into the new season:

“My team haven’t really been practicing against any NA or EU teams that have entered in the league. We do not play against FPL teams simply because we prefer not to! We’re honestly not sure who are the teams to look out for this reason. We’re just going to take every game seriously and hope for the best.

Everyone on the team performs well, playing confidently every game, calling out what they need too and have that overall clutch factor that brings a lot to the team. We all have chemistry from playing for a little over a year together so we’re just going to keep that positive attitude going into this and do our best.

Personally I am really excited for the FPL and welcome the idea that we could end up playing our sister team Riot EU, I really think it would be a fantastic match to watch! However I do feel bad that there isn’t an EU league this year and I understand the reason behind it however, It’s not particularly fair due to the connection issues. The Riot EU team still did great in S1 back on NA host and I wish them the best of luck and hopefully we can have a Riot EU and Riot NA finals match!”

We wish the best of luck to both Ellen and Kimmie and their teams. If you’re not already following both our Riot NA & EU Ladies then check out their social media links below:
